Currency withdrawn from circulation and its exchange

Banknotes and coins withdrawn from circulation can be exchanged at the cash offices of the Bank of Lithuania.

Coins and banknotes withdrawn from circulation are no longer accepted as legal tender, but can be exchanged free of charge at any cash office of the Bank of Lithuania.


At the moment, the following banknotes are withdrawn from circulation:
100, 50, 20, 10 litas banknotes issued in 1991;
50, 20, 10, 5, 2 litas banknotes issued in 1993;
1 litas banknote issued in 1994;
10, 20 litas banknotes issued in 1997.

The following litas coins are withdrawn from circulation:
1, 2, 5 litas coins issued in 1991.
